Limit shapes in surface modelstit : Distinguished Lecture Series by Professor Richard Kenyon from Yale University
The lecture will take place at The Mathematics Building 216, Room 201
Refreshments will be served at 11:30 before the lecture.
Abstract: We study surfaces arising in the scaling limits of random tiling models, in particular the random “lozenge” tiling model and its more difficult cousins, the 5- and 6-vertex models. Under certain conditions we can solve the underlying variational problem and find explicit solution surfaces parameterized by analytic functions (a version of “Darboux integrability”). This is joint work with Istvan Prause.
