Message from the Head of the Department
Welcome to the Department of Mathematics at Bar-Ilan University!
We invite you to join the Department of Mathematics at Bar-Ilan University. If you love
mathematics and are not deterred by challenges and hard work in a field that fascinates you
– you belong with us!
Mathematics is a captivating, beautiful, and highly interesting discipline. Additionally, it is
highly applicable across a vast array of fields, including science, technology, economics, and
even social studies. Graduates of our department hold key positions in high-tech companies,
both governmental and private, in financial institutions, education, and, of course, academia.
The Department offers undergraduate (BSc) studies in various tracks: theoretical
mathematics, applied mathematics, mathematics education, and mathematics-statistics.
Studies are available at different levels: expanded (major), primary (main focus), and
secondary (minor). In all expanded and primary tracks, the same courses are taught in the
first year, allowing students to choose a specific track after gaining familiarity with the
foundational courses.
Of course, we also offer advanced research degrees, including master's (MSc) and doctoral
(PhD) degrees with a thesis. Additionally, a unique non-thesis master’s program in financial
mathematics was launched a few years ago.
The academic faculty of the Department combines the extensive knowledge and expertise of
senior professors with the curiosity and boldness of younger researchers. The Department
boasts a vibrant research community, formal and informal seminars, study groups, and
conferences. Our professional administrative team is renowned for its warm and supportive
attitude toward students, earning recognition from university authorities. The student body
itself is a fascinating blend of army veterans and outstanding high school students.
Modern computer labs, advanced library services (both physical and digital), student life
activities, and unique Bar-Ilan traditions complete the colorful mosaic of our Department.
In short: Join us "come do the math!"
We look forward to your joining our Department.
