Master’s Degree in Mathematics with a Specialization in Data Sciences

The master degree program in mathematics with a specialization in data sciences is based
on a master degree with rich mathematical content, combined with courses in data science
and computer science, providing a broad theoretical and practical understanding of topics
related to machine learning and information processing.
The program is intended for students with a bachelordegree in mathematical disciplines
(mathematics, computer science, engineering, bioinformatics, or physics).
Applicants should have completed a comprehensive algorithms course and possess
programming skills, including the ability to work with one of the languages suited for efficient
handling of large datasets (such as the Pandas package in Python or the relevant
procedures in MATLAB or R). In the research track with a thesis, preference will be given to
students demonstrating potential for pursuing doctoral studies. Both tracks, with and without
a thesis, are intentionally designed to be challenging.
The Department of Mathematics offers two tracks in the field of mathematics with a
specialization in data sciences: a theoretical (courses-oriented) track and a research (thesis)
track
